Let’s try that again

We are now done to just 17 days before I fly out. Eek! So much to do. Which is also why my coming back to blog land hasn’t been too successful. But in amongst all the stuff I have to do (and too often ignore), I have managed to get a few other things done. And by done I mean not finished but at least worked on.

First, remember a while ago that I was asking about colours for a knitting project and showed all of those different sets of greens, blues, purples and reds? Well I picked my colours, ordered them and started work. I got the main part done very quickly and then it sat around for weeks waiting for me to do the steeks. For those not in the know, steeks are where you cut your knitting. Yep, I hate the sound of that too. Just the thought freaked me out. You do reinforce the stitches first and it’s all supposed to hold so that you can cut your knitting and all is still good in the world. And it works too, I’ve seen it. Unless of course you’re me. Then it doesn’t. I know have the bottom part of a colour work bag knit and cut ready to sew and the cut edge has started to undo. Crap! This is now put in the junk pile for trying again when I get a brain injury and think I can do it.

Steeks ARE as bad as I thought

While avoiding trying those steeks (obviously should have avoided longer), I tried my hand at some design work. There was a competition at my local craft shop during British Wool Week last week to design an accessory. I got an idea of twiggy branches leading to leaves (possibly increasing in size). It looks ok. I’ll probably finish it eventually, but it’s in time out at the moment because I didn’t get to finish it before the comp (just submitted it half done) and I don’t have time to do any more until after my holiday.

Trying my hand at design

Not the best pic as it was taken tonight with the flash, but hopefully it’s clear enough for you to see where I’m going with it.

And speaking of things that have to wait until after my holiday. I found some very cool fabric in that same craft shop the other week and just had to have it. It’s destined for a skirt. I’m going to have so much fun wearing that to work :)

Racoons!

Given I haven’t been online much, I hadn’t seen anything about this new Tula Pink line until I saw these guys and just had to have them. They make me smile and really, how often can we say that about our clothes. Well, ok, all the time if you’re me and by clothes you mean lingerie – I have a weakness :)

I’ve got a work dinner tomorrow night and a presentation to do before Friday but hopefully by the weekend I’ll finally get a chance to finish up the baby blanket I had planned to do last weekend. Or was it the one before? Especially as the little heifer (10lbs!) was born yesterday.
